Christians have a hard on for torture
Maybe the christian’s support of torture stems from the belief their beloved Jesus was tortured to death to save their souls. Maybe it’s that their holy book is full of their god’s support of slavery and cruelty to fellow human or that this god condemns people that do not love him and accept him as master to eternal torture. Whatever the reason, it is clear that Christians fully support torture so much so they have a hard on for it.
The more often Americans go to church, the more likely they are to support the torture of suspected terrorists, according to a new survey.
More than half of people who attend services at least once a week — 54 percent — said the use of torture against suspected terrorists is “often” or “sometimes” justified. Only 42 percent of people who “seldom or never” go to services agreed, according to the analysis released Wednesday by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life.
White evangelical Protestants were the religious group most likely to say torture is often or sometimes justified — more than six in 10 supported it. People unaffiliated with any religious organization were least likely to back it. Only four in 10 of them did.

It might seem strange that the majority of christians that claim to be the most moral people who get that morality straight from their all powerful sky-daddy are the people that think it is alright to torture other human beings. However, if one knows anything about these people’s beliefs it is not so surprising they think torture is justified in some cases for if they didn’t it would put them in conflict with their sadistic god that they believe will torture non-believers for eternity in a fiery place called hell.
History provides further evidence of the christian love of torture with the crusades, the inquisition and witch trials. Its almost like this people get off on inflicting pain on others that do not conform to their crazy ideas.
Christians therefore clearly support torture because it is necessary part of their irrational beliefs and the dogma of christianity. Every time they worship and praise their god they are supporting the torture of those that do not believe in the same things as they do.
This is just another example of christian arrogance and hate for other that do not think as they do. No matter how they try to spin it they support the torture of fellow humans by believing in and worshiping a god that will do that to others. Their beliefs are an ultimate insult to anyone that does not share their delusional ideas for they support and believe that others should be tortured forever. What egotistical, arrogant scum.

Christian morality is, in large part, an oxymoron. However, their bible, the Qu’ran, the Torah all come from a time period when it was considered perfectly acceptable to cut off a person’s wrist if he stole or kill a woman because she slept with someone unacceptable. No wonder most fundies are a little off.
Myself, I believe the correlation would not so much be between Christianity and approval of torture, but between Republicans and torture. It’s a sloppy survey that really doesn’t show us anything.
hmm, y’know I think you people are a little off. y’know I wouldnt call myself a christian but saying that all christians are in favor of torture and that its because their beloved jesus was tortured is kind of a strong statement. you know what, this absolute makes you look like you have absolutely no clue and quite frankly makes you look like a brainless bigot. So y’know I’m gonna stand by the christians against the bigotry you people have. Oh and by the way most of your “info” is from the history of the Catholic church. Perhaps you should learn to read y’know, a statistical “majority” does not mean all. Oh and about history, it wasn’t catholics torturing and burning “witches” alive in Salem, MA. All christians share the same core irrational beliefs and dogma and all are ok with non-christians being tortured for eternity for not sharing the same insane beliefs. y’know.
A majority of Christians today may not have the hots for torture of other human beings, but historically the church certainly has had a history of torture. And Christians have a history of blindly following their church leaders, justifying and ignoring their wrongs. Traditional religious Christians also tend to look at non-christians as lesser than, which means torture is more objective in their context, not really a cause for too much concern. The mob mentality also creeps in quite easily, and they can quickly and quite easily silence their consciences to look at church perpetrated torture victims simply as statistics, not as human lives.
Well, as regards the first comment of the correlation - there also strangely happens to be a coinciding correlation between Republicans and fanatical religious spiritualism, obviously in their case Christian. Islam is to them obviously the enemy, the infidel, worthy of being tortured, as they’re less than human. This of course puts their fanatacism on par with that of the islamic fundamentalists. The only difference is that the muslim side is a lot more vocal and open about it, whereas the evangelicals preach a religion of so called love and peace, while delighting in torture, at the same time not too expressive of their darker desires as they have been raised, very much like the muslims to regard pleasure as sinful and something to be guilty of. Not surprisingly both sides derive pleasure from fu*$ed up twisted means.
