Christian sign is reminder of offensive joke

While driving the other night to a casino outside Montgomery, AL to visit friends I drove past a bright sign with a crucifix and words saying “I Love You This Much”.  Tacky Christian displays like this are not uncommon in lower Alabama and the bible belt, even when on the front of  a commercial auto repair shop next to a busy highway as this one was.

While not surprising it did remind me of my favorite joke and provided a good laugh.  I thought it was so great, I stopped by there and snapped some photos of it the next day that can be seen below.

Now many are probably wondering what was the joke that this sign served as a reminder of.  Well here it is:

Why did all the ladies love Jesus?

Good one. We have those absurd signs all over Mississippi too. I suppose they aren’t all bad - at least they tell me which business to avoid.

What’s the difference between Jesus and a picture of Jesus?
It only takes one nail to keep the picture up.

Yes indeed. Here in the south it’s considered a virtue to wholeheartedly and even violently endorse ideals without the inconvenience of genuine facts and logic. These goobers proudly hang their religious content on the wall and receive back slaps all the way around from the other non-thinkers in the community.

Really, really, really sad and distressing in so many ways. I am continually shocked and amazed that cult brainwashing is so effective here in the year 2009.

It’s a shame you feel this to be offensive. This is a free country founded on Christian beliefs. If you are offended just pass by it and ignore it, but remember you may also be ignored in eternity.
