New TN Bishop Panders to Sports Fans

March 14th, 2009

There’s good news for University of Tennessee athletic teams that may need a prayer in overtime. New Catholic Bishop-elect Richard F. Stika promises to “open his heart and life” to local college-level sports. And, of course, to some 60,000 East Tennessee Catholics.”

I guess this just demonstrates how all one needs to do is throw on some orange and show you support the Vols  to get in good with your typical Tennessean.  The Knoxville  diocese must have a public relations genius.

Notice how college-level sports is more important for the new bishop to open his heart to than the sixty thousand Catholics.  Jeez,  I guess it is positive that sports comes before religion here in TN.
